To love, to share. To learn from one another. To remind ourselves children are amazing gifts, beautiful amanah from Allah.

For every moment photographed, love is spread.

Alhamdulillah, for a chance waking up to beautiful little people, spoiling us with their big, big LOVE.

These are visual stories of our children. One week at a time. In shaa Allah.

Week 29 | THE BLESSED DAY (12-18)

1 Syawal 1436H | Salam Aidilfitri all the way from Sungai Petani. One epic selfie with Opah please❤️

What a beautiful day.  A day of syukur. A day of blessing.  A day of celebration. And also a day of mixed feelings - of happiness and sadness. To greet this blessed day and to leave the blessed month of Ramadhan.

'We end Ramadhan in a state of gratitude to Allah (swt). Allah (swt) says:

“[…] to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which he has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful,” (Qur’an 2:185).

We thank Allah (swt) for all that He has given us during this month. He blessed us to be among those who worshiped Him and He gave us the health and ability to fast, to pray, and to increase in our good deeds. We thank Him for giving us the opportunity to grow and come closer to Him. We thank Him for the innumerable gifts – the ones we often forget because we are accustomed to their presence in our lives.'

Week 28 | A NIGHT IN RAMADHAN (5-11)

Siang terasa panjang, malam bagaikan singkat. Tidak sempat menanggalkan baju melayu kamu, pulang dari surau, begitu penat lalu terus kamu tertidur. Kepenatan yang berbaloi, tidak mengapa sayang. Manisnya nanti kamu kan dapat di hari kemudian.

21 days.. Masyaallah, tabarakallah, you are doing great so far my son. Alhamdulillah.

26th Ramadhan | Less than 24 hours to balik kampung. Hati dah sampai rumah Opah.

Do you wanna hear the story mommy?

Absolutely dear, and silently I pray;

O Allah, bless Kakak and Adik with the love for Quran, ameen.

"The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. .." ~ Quran (2:185)

Izlynne

I am thankful for each Ramadhan. Alhamdulillah - but,Ramadhan reminds me of someone very dear to me and she is no longer around.

I pray that I am given the opportunity to see you again, Ramadhan, so that I can be with the people I love.

In shaa Allah.

"Forget me not, forget me not
 My petals, they are blue
 You'll remember me, you'll see
 And I'll remember you"
- Forget Me Not

How you heartily played and sang the song for your grandparents that evening. All because of the durians they brought from Rembau to Bangi as desserts after iftar. With such a passionate performance despite the simplicity of the melody as well as the lyrics, daddy and I would like to assure that they will forget you not, Khalish :'D

Week 27 | A MEMORY (28 June - 4 July)

Izlynne

In the future, when I would no longer be around, whenever you look at this photo, keep in your memory that I took this photo out of my endless love for you.

Always.

You were the last grandchild he got to meet, the dearest one to him. Just after his funeral I found out that he kept a photo of you in his wallet and a couple more in one of his journals. I had no idea that he kept journals.  I remember reading beautiful things he wrote about me and I am absolutely sure he only hoped the best for you. It was on that day that I locked myself in the room and cried a good two hours of my life.

It kinda broke my heart when you once said to me that you've forgotten how his voice sounded like because it has been too long. But then you would warm my heart with sudden remarks whenever you remember little things about him. Like when you were 9, we were at the Hallmark and you pulled out this supercool birthday card which says "For my grandson" and said, "Mommy, if Wan was still here today, am sure he'd buy this card for me."

You were not even 3 when he left us. There are days where I would wish so hard that he'd still be here today and see what an amazing boy you've become. I wish harder that you'd be at least half the man he was, always sincere, humble, loving and kind to others. Above all, I wish the hardest that one day we would all be reunited with him in the highest Jannah.

Remember to always sedekah Al Fatihah for your Wan, okay?

Love,
Mommy

Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish. And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will abide forever. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
~Quran (55 : 26-28)

"My love,

One day, this will perish too.
But I do hope a moment like this will stay in your hearts for as long as you breathe.

Above all my love, I pray one day you two will be among the ones,

'..... whose faces will be glowing. Looking towards their Lord.' (Quran 75: 22-23)

Love always,
Mommy."

Ibu is not so proud of this shot because I think it was not my best, but I was and still am very proud with the moment this shot was taken. I did not realise until I saw the photo on my camera screen.

Eversince the historic roller-coaster ride you took, somehow you have gained this inner strength and confidence. The moment this shot was taken was when you asked,

"Ibu, can I go to the space? I want to see the moon and stars."

The sun flare seemed to appear alike an idea-bulb on you. Strength, good for you, baby! You are becoming braver each day. I am so proud of you. If exploring the moon and the stars is what you really want to do. I will let you. As long as you are happy. I will still love you.

Week 24 | BIRDS EYE VIEW (7-13 June)

"Birds eye view" interpretasiku.

You are not a bookworm, not yet, but, if there is a title on the shelf that awakens your curiosity, like this particular Jurassic Poop, not even a flying pterodactyl could swerve your attention from those pages.

Izlynne

"Don't worry, sayang. Ayah has bird's eye view on you. I will hold you and take care of you."
I guess, that would be what was written in my husband's mind. How I would interprete it.

My favourite view.

Oh, imagine the places you will go.
Flying up high, like a bird.
Oh, imagine all the beautiful sights.
You will get to see, looking down.
No, you're not in an air-plane,
or riding a hot air balloon.
But you are truly, truly flying,
Like a bird.
Or perhaps like the (imaginary) superman.
Flying up, and down.
Above the seas, through the valleys.
Feeling the smooth blowing of the wind,
onto your face.
The smell of the fresh air.
Oh, will that day come?
When you finally get to really fly.
Far-fetched it seems,
 in this temporary world.
But don't stop dreaming.
For the hereafter,
awaits you.
Without a doubt.
So promise?
You do good,
And above all,
Trust and obey the One who creates you.
For indeed His promise is TRUE.

"They will have there all that their hearts desire and in which their eyes find delight.
You will remain in it timelessly, forever, " (Quran, 43 : 71)

Week 23 | HOW HIGH CAN YOU GO? (31 May - 6 June)

Izlynne

If you said "Jump!" I'd say "How high?"
If you said "Run!" I'd run and fly
Just for the chance
Just for the moment
Should the moment pass us by
and if you ask once I'll tell you twice
I'll ignore the world's advice
if we could be together
for a while

Milin Kassim

It was a hot day, and after a very tiring journey on foot - in a town you are so unfamiliar with. So what do you do?

Board a train back and read a comic you just bought :)

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr Seuss.

Yup, you can even reach the clouds - and enjoy the chill - if you want to when your nose is always smurfing for books ;)

On the other note, I tried something different when photographing this time.  For the fun of it. Hiked up the ISO to 3200 and set the aperture to f/11. In a broad daylight, inside a train coach. Definitely something I rarely do, especially the ISO part. Hey, it was awesome to try out something out of your norms once in a while!
